Can you safely mount a large TV on a gypsum wall in a Dubai apartment?

I want to wall-mount my 75-inch TV in my apartment in Downtown Dubai. I've been told the walls might be gypsum and that a standard wall mount won't hold a TV this size safely. Is that true and what's the solution?

Yes, you can safely mount a large TV on a gypsum wall — but only if it's done correctly, which requires knowing exactly where the metal studs behind the gypsum are. Here's what you need to know: Gypsum partition walls in Dubai apartments have a metal stud frame behind them typically spaced 40–60cm apart. Mounting a 75-inch TV (which weighs 25–35kg) into gypsum board alone using standard fixings is dangerous — gypsum fixings can handle picture frames and light shelves, not a heavy TV. The correct approach: Use a stud finder to locate the metal studs behind the gypsum. Use metal-thread fixings that screw directly into the metal studs. Use a mount rated for the TV's weight with a safety margin (look for 50kg+ rated mounts for a 75-inch screen). A professional TV mounting engineer in Dubai will do all of this correctly for AED 100–200 and will guarantee the mount is safe. For a TV this size and weight, professional installation is strongly recommended over DIY.
