How should I change my garden irrigation schedule for winter in Dubai?
Our irrigation timer is still on the summer settings and some of the garden looks waterlogged. How much should we water in winter?

Most Dubai gardens need roughly 40–60% less water in winter than in summer, so leaving the timer on summer settings wastes water and can damage plants
Waterlogged soil starves roots of air, encourages fungus and mosquitoes and raises your DEWA bill.
A typical winter schedule
Lawns usually need watering every one to two days instead of daily, for shorter runs. Shrub and flower beds on drippers often need watering two to three times a week. Water early in the morning so leaves dry during the day; night watering in cool weather can encourage fungus. New plants and overseeded lawns need more frequent light watering for their first few weeks.
Signs you're overwatering
Soft, spongy grass, yellowing leaves, moss or algae on paving, water pooling on paths and a musty smell from beds. Check after rain too, and pause the system for a day or two if the ground is already wet.
Checking the system
Winter is a good time for an irrigation check: fixing leaking drippers, cleaning filters, adjusting sprinkler heads and setting the controller. This typically costs AED 300–800 for a villa garden, more if valves or the controller need replacing (indicative only — actual costs vary).
